AFSF 2026: Stephen Muthui is excited to explore Rwanda’s food systems during AFSF

1. Why is this year’s AFSF important to your work?

My greatest desire and plan is to connect with fellow change makers to move the food system beyond discussions and actually bring collective efforts to actions. 

2. How are you looking forward to contributing your skills and expertise at the AFSF?

I am particularly interested to share and build cohesion together with experiences in areas of: seed systems, agroecology and market developments. Besides attending the plenary sessions, discussions and sharing my journey in networks I will also take the scheduled field visit, to experience the Rwandan food system in practice beyond the knowledge. 

3. What are the most important outcomes you are hoping will come out of the AFSF?

I hope to see and be part of the following outcomes; 

• Tangible and measurable actions developed for food systemic transformations.

• Regional and continental collaborations developed to fast track the desired systematic changes.

• More financing prioritised towards agroecology and regenerative productions systems.

• Young people brought onboard as a central part of the current and future change makers in the food system.

• Connect and network with one collaborator in the work I am doing.

4. Who are you most looking forward to meeting or hearing from at the AFSF, and why?

I wish to meet and hear from governments about the plans to support food systems in terms of policy and investment.
