Assumpta Uzamukunda

Assumpta is a Sustainable Land Use Fellow and a biodiversity conservation and forest management expert with experience in landscape restoration, landscape governance, sustainable food and agriculture, multi-stakeholder processes, and resource mobilisation.

She currently works as a local representative of Wageningen University & Research in the HortInvest Project, Rwanda. Her responsibilities include facilitation of public-private collaboration and consultation, policy and institutional development, capacity building, and technical assistance. She has in the past worked for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the Rwanda Natural Resources Authority on landscape governance programmes. Notable achievements include winning the best poster award on “Household use of forest resources and land ownership in communities adjacent to National parks” at the annual Student Conference on Conservation Science in 2012 She holds a BSc. in Biodiversity Conservation from the University of Rwanda and an MA in Forest Management from Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands.
